| | | | Good afternoon, In Macomb County we remain committed to responding to the COVID-19 challenges of the day. Our Health Department is fighting the spread of COVID-19 through testing and contact tracing. Our Department of Planning and Economic Development is distributing millions of dollars in grants to local businesses affected by the shutdown. And Macomb Community Action is helping individuals facing financial crises with monetary and food assistance. Our goal is to continue providing these services for as long as it is necessary - because it is our job to protect and support our community so that it remains healthy, safe and open. You play an important part in this as well. By wearing a face covering, practicing social distancing, washing your hands and staying home when you feel sick, you can help us in our fight against the coronavirus. Together we can ensure our community is prepared for whatever comes next.  Macomb County is offering COVID-19 testing for all individuals, businesses, and organizations. No appointment is necessary. The drive-thru site is located at 380 Rose St., Mount Clemens, MI 48043 is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The test is free, no prescription is needed and you do not need to have symptoms to be tested. Grants, free Back-to-Business kits with basic PPE and other resources for reopening your business are available through Macomb County Planning & Economic Development. Visit MacombBusiness.com. - While scientists and medical experts are still learning about COVID-19, one thing is certain: Case investigation and contact tracing can be one of our most effective tools in the fight against this novel coronavirus. However, there is a barrier to contact tracing efforts, and that is fear. People are afraid of getting a phone call from a contact tracer and answering questions about their health and their contacts. They do not know who is on the other line and how their information is used. Of course, it's human nature to fear the unknown. So it's easy to understand why this reaction is common. - Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works! is now providing free recorded online employability workshops available at macomb-stclairworks.org/online-workshops. A variety of topics are covered that are relevant to the upcoming post-pandemic job search such as updating resumes, remote interviewing, social media usage, and online networking. In addition to the new workshops, individuals can receive one-on-one help remotely in regards to both workshop topics and many other services provided by calling any of the centers listed here.
- Behind on your mortgage? Struggling to pay property taxes? Michigan State University Extension - Macomb County is now offering foreclosure prevention counseling and can assist you with these issues. Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH) is on the ground providing assistance to residents. The Make Macomb Your Home blog recently featured the organization and its efforts in an article here, including information that may be useful for those dealing with depression, anxiety or other mental health issues. If you are in need of immediate assistance, you can contact MCCMH directly. Their Crisis Center is open and will work to make appropriate linkages to community resources.
